How much information can you put in the page title bar?

You can put as much information as you want in the TITLE tag. Google and Yahoo will show 66 characters, MSN will show up to 69. This is about 10-15 words.

For page titles we recommend placing keywords in a certain order. As an example, on an ecommerce site, the optimal keyword positioning would be:

PRODUCT > CATEGORY > WEBSITE NAME

This ensures that your primary keywords for this Product page are at the beginning of your title tag.

Do you need to have the words that are in your page title bar on that page? In the same order?

Kathy,

It is important to repeat the title tag in the content heading on your page. It doesn't have to be identical, just similar to what your title says.
